Types of Kitchen Renovation We Handle
Wet Kitchen Renovation
The wet kitchen is where serious Malaysian cooking happens — high heat, wok cooking, deep frying. It needs: proper ventilation (ducted hood or at minimum a powerful extraction fan), durable cabinet materials that resist heat and moisture, practical flooring (non-slip, easy to clean), and waterproofed walls behind the hob and sink area. We design and build wet kitchens that can handle real use.
Dry Kitchen Renovation
The dry kitchen — open plan, facing the living or dining area — is about aesthetics as much as function. Island counters, breakfast bars, handleless cabinetry, and integrated appliances are common features. Materials need to be beautiful and practical: quartz countertops that resist staining, laminate doors that hold up over time.
Combined Wet and Dry Kitchen
Most full renovations in KL involve both: a concealed or semi-concealed wet kitchen connected to an open dry kitchen. We design these together so they work as one coherent space — connected but functionally separated. A glass partition or door between wet and dry is common and highly recommended.
Kitchen Cabinet Options
Cabinet Carcass: E1-grade moisture-resistant board (PVC-edged). Standard for all Studio D3 kitchen cabinets — we don't use regular particleboard which swells in KL's humidity.
Door Finishes:
Textured laminate (HPL) — durable, wide range of colours, matte or wood-look finishes
PVC membrane wrap — smooth profile, great for handleless/profile designs
Lacquer finish — premium option, very clean look, higher maintenance
Hardware: Soft-close hinges and drawer runners standard. Blum, Hettich, or equivalent.
Countertop Options:
Engineered quartz (most popular) — non-porous, stain-resistant, available in marble looks
Sintered stone (e.g., Neolith) — premium, very durable, handles heat
Natural stone (marble, granite) — beautiful but requires sealing and care
Solid surface (Corian) — seamless, repairable, mid-range

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
A cabinet replacement in the same layout (no hacking): 2–4 weeks. A full kitchen gut with new layout, tiling, and all new fittings: 6–10 weeks. Larger or more complex kitchens with layout changes may take 10–14 weeks.
Can I keep my existing kitchen layout and just replace the cabinets?
Yes. If you're happy with the layout and the plumbing and electrical points work for you, a straight cabinet replacement is cost-effective and relatively fast. We'll assess whether any electrical or plumbing updates are advisable before confirming the scope.
What kitchen cabinet brand does Studio D3 use?
We use E1-grade moisture-resistant board from reputable Malaysian and imported suppliers for carcasses. We don't use a single branded system — instead we source based on specification grade and project budget. Door finishes are sourced from established laminate and membrane suppliers. Hardware is Blum, Hettich, or equivalent soft-close systems.
